Board of Assessors approves $44,864 in vehicle excise tax abatements

CHELMSFORD — The Board of Assessors unanimously approved $44,864.69 in vehicle excise tax abatements spanning fiscal years 2024 through 2026. Chairman Samuel P. Chase and Member Gabe Francisco voted 2-0, with the bulk of the cuts, $42,777.49, allocated to FY 26.
Member Michael R. Donoghue was absent. The board also approved prior month signings on property abatements and exemptions, and unanimously adjourned to executive session to discuss abatement matters and strategy regarding pending litigation.
