Board welcomes new Assessor, defers veterans exemption proposal

CHELMSFORD — Board of Assessors welcomes new member, defers veterans exemption proposal for spring consideration. The Board welcomed attorney Gabe Francisco, appointed to the three-member board, who will complete Assessor Certification within one year. Veterans Agent Regina Jackson requested Board recommendation for increased Clause 22 Veterans Exemption amounts, estimated to add $160,000 to the FY 2027 budget.
Chair Samuel P. Chase requested time to review the proposal with Francisco before deciding whether to recommend it to the Spring 2026 Town Meeting. The Board unanimously approved FY 2026 warrants totaling $127.5 million and personal property tax abatements and exemptions.
