Conservation · Meeting of September 8, 2026

Chelmsford's Conservation Commission approved a contaminated-well fix and signaled no to a forest race. The panel voted unanimously, with one member recused, to let Haley & Aldrich and the Chelmsford Water District extend a water main so residents at 27-29 Summer Street can drop a private well tainted by old dry-cleaning solvents; those residents currently buy bottled water. The commission also told the New England Orienteering Club it likely won't approve a September 27 off-trail race through Thanksgiving Forest Reservation, with steward Jeff Booten warning "I'm very concerned about anything off-trail, even if it's a small amount of people." Separately, a two-lot Lady Slipper Lane subdivision was continued to September 22 after commissioner John Christensen recused himself as an abutter and applicant's attorney Hausler disputed "credible evidence" of a neighboring vernal pool that no one had actually produced.

Two other continuances were granted without objection.
