CHELMSFORD — Parker School Building Committee votes to recommend Select Board set January 11, 2027 Special Town Meeting and February 9, 2027 ballot vote for local funding approval. Chair Patrick Maloney and Superintendent Dr. Jay Lang received analysis of three HVAC system options ranging from $16.2 million to $22.0 million in installation cost; after Mass Save rebates and federal Inflation Reduction Act credits, costs narrow to $14.6 million to $15.2 million, with the full geothermal system showing lowest 20-year lifecycle cost of $21.3 million.

Project Director David Saindon warned that moving local approvals to spring 2027 could delay construction awards to fall 2028, adding $2.8 million to $4.1 million in escalation costs. Construction is anticipated to begin August 2028 and conclude October 2031, with occupancy targeted for 2030.
