Parker School Building Committee advances Parker site, commits to grades 4-5-6 focus.

School Building Committee · Meeting of January 15, 2026

CHELMSFORD — Parker School Building Committee narrows focus to one site and multiple grade configurations. The committee voted unanimously to advance seven design alternatives at the Parker site into the Preferred Schematic Report phase, eliminating Graniteville and McCarthy from future consideration, and authorized Ai3 Architects and LeftField PM to submit the 1,900-page Preliminary Program Design to the Massachusetts School Building Authority. Conceptual cost estimates ranged from approximately $105 million for base repair to over $390 million for larger new construction scenarios.

The committee affirmed strong support for the grades 4-5-6 enrollment configuration endorsed by the school committee, citing benefits including developmental appropriateness, relief of elementary overcrowding, and stronger community support than costlier alternatives.
