Parker School Building Committee approves environmental remediation contract amendment.
School Building Committee · Meeting of February 19, 2026
CHELMSFORD — Parker School Building Committee approves $25,883 Ai3 contract amendment for environmental services. Select Board Member Patrick Maloney chaired the unanimous 10-0 vote authorizing the amendment and a corresponding transfer from the Owner's Contingency account for geo-environmental work at the Parker Middle School site. Phase I soil testing identified acetone contamination at two locations in November 2025; January 2026 follow-up confirmed the contamination is limited to 7.5 cubic yards with no groundwater impact.
The proposed Limited Removal Action remediation will occur during April vacation, targeting completion by May 6, 2026, to avoid formal state environmental agency notification. The committee also approved invoice packet number 9 at $159,389, covering project costs through January 31, 2026, and reviewed two primary design options for the new Parker building.
