Recycling Committee holds April session; approves prior minutes and charts spring events.

Chelmsford Recycling Committee met April 9 and approved prior meeting minutes while charting spring waste-reduction events. Sustainability Manager Chris Haley reported March tonnage totals of 249.2 tons of recycling, 892.33 tons of trash, and 2.5 tons of CHS compost from 133 participating households. The CHS Eco Club is surveying local food-service establishments on single-use black plastic use and is developing a potential warrant article to ban black plastic food trays and mandate compostable alternatives; the survey closes April 17.

Upcoming events include a FixIt Clinic on April 11, town-wide cleanup April 18 through 26, a Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off on April 25, and a Junk in the Trunk event on May 16.
