Select Board approves $17.9 million fire station construction bid award

Chelmsford Select Board unanimously approved a $17.9 million contract for West and South Fire Stations construction to Castana Construction Corporation. The five-member board, led by Chair Pat Wojtas, also backed bids totaling nearly $3 million for ceiling repairs, road overlay work, and aquatic plant management. On 35 spring town meeting warrant articles, the board recommended approval of FY27 operating budgets for schools and general government but withheld its recommendation on a zoning amendment to reverse the definition of family from non-familial to familial arrangements, citing concerns over federal law compliance and potential state litigation.
