Chelmsford Tree Committee advances 2026 front yard planting program with 67 applications received. Christine Clancy reported that applications exceed the initial 50-tree target and that the Department of Public Works will assess site suitability before final approvals. John Thompson presented an Arbor Day initiative with an estimated $300 cost, proposing educational displays and seedling distribution at hazardous waste collection days, school graduations, and other community events to emphasize tree importance to children.
Committee members identified three priority tasks: ordering trees by March 19, developing invasive tree assessment criteria, and pursuing Cooler Corridors grant funding for willow plantings at Warren-Pohl conservation land.
