CHELMSFORD — Zoning Board upholds traffic order, rejecting Newport Aggregates appeal on Ledge Road. Vice Chair Charles Wojtas and members Jamie Outland-Brown, Glenn Diggs, Rodney Cleaves, and Danny Ruiz voted 4-1 to sustain the Building Commissioner's cease-and-desist limiting commercial vehicles to 43 trucks per day on the private residential road. Applicant Newport Aggregates, which operates a Westford gravel pit accessed via Chelmsford, argued traffic data were unreliable and other commercial users escaped enforcement; residents and State Representative Rodney Elliott testified to safety hazards and quality-of-life impacts.
Member Brown urged legislative action and offered Rep. Elliott involvement in multi-town resolution.
