Select Board · Meeting of August 24, 2026

Chelmsford's Select Board approved a $141,720 street sweeping contract and a 25-article fall town meeting warrant. The board voted 5-0 to award the DPW debris-disposal contract to W.L. French Excavating Corporation over a $144,750 rival bid, and unanimously confirmed appointments of Dina Morrison, John Christensen and Paige Gilet to town boards.

Acting Town Manager John Sousa told members the town's Middlesex County Retirement assessment will rise 5.4 percent in fiscal 2028, to roughly $14.7 million, below the system's typical 6.5 percent guidance. The board also approved transferring an auto dealer license to Icon Nissan of Chelmsford and reordered the fall warrant so a citizen petition and a black-plastic bylaw article move earlier in the sequence. Chair Pat Wojtas closed the meeting, Sousa's last as acting manager, thanking him ahead of incoming Town Manager Alex McGee's August 31 start.
