Select Board · Meeting of August 10, 2026

CHELMSFORD — The Chelmsford Select Board voted 4-1 to schedule a special town meeting for January 11, 2027, and a debt exclusion election for February 9, 2027, on a $265 million Parker Middle School rebuild. Chair Pat Wojtas cast the lone dissent, preferring to pair the ballot question with the April town election. Parker School Building Committee Chair Patrick Maloney warned "it would likely be another 7 to 10 years before getting another bite at the apple" if the town misses its MSBA funding window.

Project consultants estimated a four-month delay could add $2.8 million to $4.1 million in construction-cost escalation on $211 million in awards. The board separately approved a corrected contract setting incoming Town Manager Alex Magee's starting salary at $225,000, and voted 5-0 to send a letter urging the Legislature's Ways and Means Committee to act on a bill providing injured-on-duty pay for Firefighter Nicholas Spinale.
