CHELMSFORD — The Chelmsford Planning Board approved special permits for a new Tyngsboro Road commercial building and opened contested zoning hearings. Members voted 7-0 four separate times to close the hearing and approve side-yard, floodplain and site plan permits for Gerald J. and Tina Daley's project at 91 Tyngsboro Road. The board then opened the first of at least two hearings on eight zoning bylaw articles for fall Town Meeting, continuing all of them to August 26.
Attorney Douglas Hausler told the board a proposed contractor-yard vehicle cap amounted to "complete micromanaging" and said "everybody's paying taxes." Chair Chris Lavallee acknowledged a mapping error after resident Jeannie Clemons said her 196 Riverneck Road building was wrongly zoned residential instead of CBLT. Residents clashed over whether rezoning nearly 100 Riverneck Road and 210 Boston Road parcels would newly enable multifamily housing.
