Planning Board · Meeting of August 26, 2026

Chelmsford's Planning Board agreed to split a 96-parcel Riverneck Road rezoning plan into two Town Meeting articles after months of resident pushback. Chair Chris LaValle proposed dividing the package so one article addresses Riverneck Road's industrial-to-commercial shift and a second covers rezoning Monmouth and McFarland streets to residential along with adjacent Apollo Drive parcels. Residents Sung Woo Kim and Harshad Deshpande asked the board for RC rather than RB zoning on their undersized Monmouth Street lots, while Precinct 10 representative Sean Campbell said the town had "no reasonable choice" but to overanalyze the plan's impacts and asked for a document showing what each property gains or loses.

The board also voted unanimously to subject a $5 million, 24 Maple Road office redevelopment to COID review and continued a 9 Lady Slipper Lane subdivision hearing to September 9, when it expects to finalize and vote on all pending zoning articles.
