CHELMSFORD — The Chelmsford Planning Board expanded its proposed Riverneck neighborhood rezoning and continued the 9 Lady Slipper Lane subdivision hearing to August 12 on a 6-0 roll call vote. Chair Chris Lavallee rebutted a letter from resident Sean Campbell objecting to the rezoning's scope and pace, while member Deirdre Connolly called the Riverneck industrial zoning "an Achilles heel" that keeps drawing unwanted development. The board agreed to add 150 Apollo Drive, 23 Progress Avenue and three Christopher's Towing parcels to the proposed CBLT buffer zone ahead of an August 12 public hearing.
On a separate data center zoning article, member Michael Raisbeck said the board was "going at it the wrong way" by regulating land use rather than specific nuisances like power and water use, and indicated he would likely vote against or abstain. Community Development Director Evan Belansky briefed the board on state Chapter 40A revisions effective July 1 and a November ballot question, Question 7, that would allow 5,000-square-foot single-family lots statewide. The board approved its June 10 minutes 6-0 and adjourned at approximately 8:02 p.m.
